DENRO PLANK BRIDGE COLLAPSED AND REPAIRED

Denro is situated in Oluwakemi in Ogun state Nigeria. This flood is caused by improper planning by Ogun state government who has refused to put in place necessary infrastructure to allow free flow of water whenever it rains or when the oyan dam strikes by opening its waters. This bridge was put in place by the community(area boys) and they collected as much as fifty per person. The state government heard of it and told them to stop collecting the money as they were given two hundred and five thousand naira. They did stop. On Tuesday 25, 2011 the plank bridge collasped in the evening. But reports had it that the people who fell into the Oyan dam created river were successfully rescued. Picture above shows were the plank bridge collasped. The picture was taken on October 26, 2011 at Olwakemi in Denro Ogun state.


People did`nt have a choice but to enter the dirty water.The young boy that was carried, was charged fifty naira and for adults who do not want to walk in the water, hundred naira was charged.

By evening on Wednesday 26, 2011, the area boys had finished repairing the bridge. They claimed that repairing the bridge cost them one hundred and seventy thousand naira and had since been collecting twenty naira per person.
