SANITIZATION EXERCISE OF BILLBOARDS AND SIGNS ON MAJOR STREETS OF OYO STATE

Yinka Adepoju frpa
Director General
Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency

In the agency`s bid to reshape Oyo State landscape and re-energize the State’s Outdoor Space to make it more beautiful, decent and conducive, the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) is currently sanitizing State Roads beginning with Ibadan, the State Capital.
The sole aim of this exercise is to rid the already polluted environment of dilapidated, dangerous, broken down, non-conforming and Sub Standard advertising structures scattered all over the place.
Following this development, new erection/installation of billboards and signs are henceforth put on hold until further notice while a new order of what the Outdoor Space in Oyo State will look like shall be communicated to all concerned at a stakeholder’s forum which is scheduled to hold in a fortnight from now.
In the meantime, the agency requests that all practitioners in Oyo State should as a matter of urgency visit their sites and ensure hat such billboards are properly tagged and well maintained. The agency`s sites inspection in the last two weeks revealed that so many sites have been neglected by owners as they are found to be in very bad shape. Such sites have constituted nuisance and eyesore for long on the roads. This unprofessional attitude can no longer be tolerated.
The agency enjoined practitioners to respond to this call as they believe this new initiative will provide limitless opportunities for better outdoor growth in Oyo State and request that practitioners be part of it for a more conducive, enabling business environment says the director general of the agency, Mr. Yinka Adepoju.
