Oyo police parade alleged rapist of 4-yr-old

IBADAN—A 25-year- old man, Femi Owolabi, who allegedly raped a four- year-old girl was among suspected criminals paraded by the Oyo State Police Command, yesterday.
The suspect, who is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, allegedly committed the crime on July 30, 2012.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Clement Adoda, the mother of the victim, upon her discovery that the innocent girl had been defiled, reported at Agugu Police Division.
She was quoted by the police as saying that her little daughter came out of the suspect’s room with blood stain all over her legs.
“She reported further that on a closer observation, she discovered that the girl was bleeding profusely from her private part. On receipt of the report, detectives went after the suspect and got him apprehended.”
Also paraded was a robbery gang of men and women alleged to have disguised as prophets robbing their victims of valuable items.
The names of the suspects were given as Tunde Adeyinka, Sunday Olanrewaju and Popoola Omotayo.
They were arrested in a building along P- Ajao Area of Ogbomoso.
The police said: “One AK 49 rifle, two locally- made double barrel pistols with five live cartridges, two AK 47 rifles, one double SIM Techno handset, one Nokia handset, one Toyota Camry Saloon car with number-plate Lagos MUS 159 AG, one unregistered motorcycle, three cutlasses, some clergy garments and some  charms.
When asked if he committed the crime, he confessed that he used that to deceive his victims.
According to the police:“On interrogation, the arrested notorious criminals confessed to be a gang of criminals who engaged in inter-state robberies, especially in the South-West. The arrested suspects who claimed to be “Woli” (prophet) will soon be charged to court.”
